Why examples help
Pet transport pricing is easier to understand by trip type. The mistake is treating every job like the same ride with a different number of miles.
Distance matters, but time, waiting, animal handling, communication, and responsibility matter too.
Simple local pickup
A simple local pickup and drop-off might use a flat minimum that includes a set local radius. Mileage only starts after that radius.
Example structure: local minimum, included miles, extra mileage after the included area, extra pet fee if needed, and rush fee for same-day requests.
Vet appointment handled
A full vet appointment should cost more than a simple ride because it includes check-in, waiting, updates, checkout, and return.
Example structure: appointment minimum, included wait time, additional wait-time blocks, mileage outside the local radius, and after-hours or urgent fees when appropriate.
Grooming round trip
Grooming transport can be priced as one-way drop-off, one-way pickup, or round trip. Round trips should account for two route segments and unpredictable groomer finish times.
Example structure: one-way minimum or round-trip package, included local miles, wait or delay policy, and recurring-client scheduling option.
Airport and long-distance examples
Airport transport may need a higher minimum because of timing risk, parking, facility coordination, and flight delays. Long-distance transport should usually be custom quoted.
Example structure: base service fee, mileage, driver time, tolls, parking, lodging if needed, wait time, paperwork coordination, and deposit terms.
