Why intake matters

Pet transport has too many details to manage casually: pet behavior, access, timing, destination, owner expectations, payment, emergency contacts, and return instructions.

A strong intake process keeps those details in one place and makes the ride easier to complete safely.

Owner and job details

Collect the owner's name, phone, email, pickup address, destination address, appointment time, preferred update method, and backup contact.

If the job involves a vet, groomer, airport, daycare, or boarding facility, collect the facility name, phone number, address, and check-in instructions.

Pet behavior and health

Ask about anxiety, escape risk, bite history, carsickness, leash behavior, mobility issues, medications, medical conditions, and whether the pet needs a carrier or restraint.

These questions are not overkill. They directly affect how you handle the pet.

Authorization and payment

Before the ride, confirm permission to transport, scope of service, cancellation policy, payment terms, and what you can or cannot approve during appointments.

Clear authorization protects both the client and the operator.

Turn intake into operations

The best intake process feeds the job workflow. Once the form is complete, it should guide the quote, route plan, pickup process, update cadence, and final notes.

Intake is not admin fluff. It is the operating system for the ride.
